The WBL Coordinator as a Student Success Architect
Work-Based Learning is more than placing students in jobs. It can remove barriers, support graduation pathways and credentials, connect CTE and non-CTE students with meaningful experiences, and help students translate their interests and abilities into future opportunities. It includes career awareness, career exploration, registered and unregistered WBL experiences, internships, workplace challenges, industry communication, employer engagement, and reflective learning.
Dr. Wharton is a Work-Based Learning and Career Pathways educator whose qualifications include CTE Media Communications, educational leadership certification, advanced Work-Based Learning studies at Hofstra University, classroom teaching, federal workforce-policy experience, higher-education instruction, and employer-side management experience.
His work connects classroom learning with career exploration, internships, job shadowing, industry-based projects, mentorship, student portfolios, employability skills, and community and employer partnerships.
